As the final week of classes wraps up at The Ursuline School, the campus is buzzing with excitement over a wave of historic student accomplishments that span the arts, athletics, and academics. From world championships to international recognition, Ursuline students lead with heart, grit, and boundless creativity, proving they have the drive to make a difference, on the stage, on the mat, and in the lab.

Curtain Call for Carly T ’25: Metro Award winner in theater arts

The spotlight also shines brightly on Carly T ’25, whose creative brilliance behind the scenes earned her the Metro Award for Outstanding Student Technical Achievement. As student director and choreographer for Legally Blonde Jr., Carly brought energy and vision to the Ursuline stage, leaving a lasting impression on both the audience and the judges.

The Metro Awards, celebrating the best in high school theater across New York and New Jersey, included 71 schools this year. Carly’s win places Ursuline at the forefront of regional performing arts excellence. For more arts news, click HERE to read about Santina M '22 and her journey on American Idol.

World Champion: Gianna Isabella C ’27 dominates the Jiu Jitsu stage

Gianna Isabella C ’27 has etched her name into the record books as a Jiu Jitsu Blue Belt Featherweight World Champion, claiming gold at the prestigious IBJJF World Championships in Long Beach, California. Gianna triumphed over the world's elite, defeating the #1, #2, #3, and #7 ranked competitors to earn her title.

This victory comes on the heels of another groundbreaking achievement earlier this year, when Gianna became Ursuline’s first-ever wrestler and secured 2nd place at the New York State Public High School Championships. Her incredible determination and trailblazing spirit have set a new standard for athletic excellence at Ursuline. Science Star: Aine O ’25 places 4th in the world at ISEF

In the world of science, Aine O ’25 has made history as Ursuline’s first-ever Science Research student to place at the Regeneron International Science & Engineering Fair (ISEF)—and she did so in spectacular fashion, earning 4th place in the world in Biomedical and Health Sciences.

Her cutting-edge research, “The Effect of the Tumor Microenvironment & RK-33 Treatment on Macrophage Infiltration in Sarcoma Mouse Tumors,” stood out among over 750 projects from students representing more than 65 countries. After qualifying through the Regeneron Westchester Science & Engineering Fair, Aine joined an elite group of just 20 projects to advance to ISEF. This fall, Aine will attend the University of Notre Dame to study biology on a pre-med track. She is poised and well-prepared to carry her passion for scientific research into the future of medicine. Today’s Ursuline students are redefining excellence and embodying what it means to lead with passion, purpose, and pride. With every achievement, they are honoring Ursuline’s legacy while forging a future shaped by bold ambition and a commitment to making a meaningful difference in the world.
