The Ursuline School Board of Trustees and Board of Members are thrilled to announce the appointment of Colleen Melnyk, EdD, as President of The Ursuline School, effective July 1, 2021.

Dr. Melnyk is a dynamic, experienced, mission-centered educational leader who models the Ursuline values of faith, integrity and respect for all. As a current Trustee and parent of an alumna, she is deeply connected to The Ursuline School's mission to educate, inspire and empower young women to become wise, active, globally-minded leaders by cultivating lifelong learning, spiritual growth, integrity, respect for all and dedication to Serviam – "I will serve."

Dr. Colleen Melnyk

Dr. Melnyk has been an educator in the Mamaroneck and New Rochelle school districts since 1990 and presently is the Principal of the Murray Avenue School in Larchmont.

She was a Core Member of the Carnegie Foundation's iLead Initiative from 2017-2020 to further the capacities of higher education institutions to help local K-12 partners to enact systematic improvement efforts within their organizations.

Dr. Melnyk has served as Trustee, Chair of the Education Committee and member of the Executive Committee of the Ursuline Board of Trustees since 2019. She holds a BA in Communications, a MS in Elementary Education and an EdD in Educational Leadership, each from Fordham University.

She also serves as a member of the Advisory Council of Annunciation School.

Dr. Melnyk has shared her enthusiasm for taking on this role and the importance of the School's mission, stating, "The Ursuline School represents a tradition of academic excellence with special attention to the education of the whole individual. I have been deeply moved by the success and experiences of my own daughter who is an alumna of The Ursuline School. I am very excited to lead and inspire the next generation of graduates to learn, think critically about the world, and prepare to become leaders themselves, with faith and integrity, committed to the Ursuline tradition of Serviam."
