Ursuline's Asian Club hosted an engaging afterschool dance workshop on Monday, March 30, in the Auriana Theater, where students gathered for a hands-on cultural experience.

Guest instructor Bina Mulcahy P'26, a dance teacher and the mother of senior Lily Mulcahy '26, led the session, introducing students to the expressive style of Bollywood dance. Dressed in a beautifully ornate traditional costume with intricate beaded embellishments, she guided participants through foundational techniques while sharing the cultural meaning behind the movements.

Bollywood dance, she explained, brings stories to life through gesture and expression, transforming movement into a visual narrative. Students practiced shoulder and hip articulation, including fluid "figure-eight" motions, and step-touch combinations across a range of tempos. The group also learned elements of "Pinga," a popular Bollywood dance inspired by the traditional Marathi folk dance, featuring circular formations that reflect connection and celebration.

Club moderator Mr. Pa-Momodou Sallah praised the students' enthusiasm and willingness to try something new. "It was great to see students step outside their comfort zones and really embrace the experience," he said. Computer science teacher Mr. Howard Mo and math teacher Ms. Korina Stufano also stopped in during the workshop, with Stufano briefly joining students on the dance floor.

The workshop also included authentic Asian snacks and Hello Panda treats, adding to the welcoming atmosphere, and brought cultural traditions to life in a way that felt both engaging and memorable. The event also reflected the leadership of many seniors who have helped shape the club's programming over the years.
