Lights, cameras, learning at live national TV broadcast

Students in Mr. Andrew Dapolite's Television Production class took part in an unforgettable behind-the-scenes visit to a live broadcast of "Live with Kelly and Mark," the Disney ABC syndicated program hosted by Kelly Ripa and Mark Consuelos.

From prime seating inside the studio, students observed how a live television show comes together, from staging and camera placement to teleprompters, interviewing, control room communication, and on-camera presence. Students also asked questions of Executive Producer Michael Gelman, gaining direct insight into the fast-paced and collaborative world of broadcast television.

These close-up, real-world experiences provide meaningful context for students interested in media arts and help them understand the technical, creative, and professional skills required in live television production. By connecting classroom learning with industry exposure, students gain clarity about potential academic and career pathways in broadcasting and related fields.

Recent upgrades to Ursuline's television production facilities further enriched the experience. Ann Clemente and her family made the enhancements in memory of her daughter, Stephanie, for whom the school's on-campus television studio is named. The upgraded space allows students to apply their learning in a professional-grade environment that honors Stephanie's legacy and supports hands-on, experiential learning.

Students returned energized by the opportunity, inspired by behind-the-scenes access, and eager to deepen their engagement with media arts through Ursuline's expanding academic offerings.
