Ursuline students advance innovation at Virtual Enterprises competition

Twenty-two Ursuline students represented the school at the Virtual Enterprises Business Plan Competition and Trade Show at Long Island University, where they competed against more than 160 teams from across the region.

Students enrolled in the Virtual Enterprises course developed and operated resQcase.net entirely on their own. Ursuline introduced the new course this year as part of its Business and Financial Literacy program. Mrs. Jill Patricot teaches the course, guiding students through the full life cycle of building and managing a company while emphasizing real-world application and collaborative problem-solving.

From the ground up, students applied practical skills in accounting using QuickBooks, tax documentation, design thinking, Bloomberg analytics, and product development. Team members also designed and 3D-printed prototype "Q" charms in Ursuline's Innovation Hub, turning their business concept into a tangible product.

Juniors Serena Madappatt '27, Olivia McDevitt '27, and Emilia Plawiak '27 presented the business plan to a panel of judges, demonstrated a strong command of the company's legal structure and competitive analysis, and confidently answered challenging questions.

This experience reflects Ursuline's commitment to innovative, experiential learning that prepares students for college and future careers. The team now looks ahead to the finals, continuing a strong tradition of academic rigor, professionalism, and innovation.
