Annual Bible Ceremony Essential for 6th Grade

As the Back-to-School season came to a close, The Ursuline School set a prayerful tone for our sixth graders with the annual Bible ceremony. On September 30, 2022, our youngest students gathered in the JB Commons to take part in a beautiful, long-standing Ursuline tradition.

The ceremony, filled with song and prayer, was led by members of the Class of ‘29 who prayed together, read petitions, and gave reflections on selected scripture readings.

President Dr. Colleen Melnyk presented Bibles to the sixth graders as Principal Theresa Napoli called each student forward by name.

Afterward, the students held up their Bibles for a special blessing by Campus Minister Mrs. Maureen Crowley.

As Faith and Spiritual Development is one of Ursuline’s core values, the annual ceremony is an essential step for the sixth graders. Receiving the gift of a personalized Bible draws the students more fully into the school community and provides a useful resource to be used in Religious Studies classes throughout their time at Ursuline.
