College-bound Koalas commit to play at the next level

On Wednesday, April 30, 2025, the Auriana Theater on The Ursuline School campus filled with applause, smiles, and school pride as the community gathered to celebrate Athletic Signing Day—a milestone moment for 11 remarkable senior student-athletes. These young women officially signed commitments to continue their athletic and academic journeys at the collegiate level, representing Ursuline's enduring tradition of excellence in sports and academics.

11 Ursuline seniors commit to play at the next level in college

The ceremony, led by Athletic Director Mr. Sean Ryan, welcomed a warm and supportive crowd of families, teachers, administrators, and friends. Opening the event, Ryan first turned to the families, saying, “It’s time to reflect on the journey, the challenges faced and conquered, and relish this time to celebrate your daughter’s wonderful athletic accomplishments. Congratulations to all the parents and families here today.”

Ryan and Assistant Athletic Director Ms. Jolie Tang individually recognized each student-athlete for her sport, her chosen college, and the reasons behind her decision. Behind every signature is a story of determination, resilience, and the unwavering support of the Ursuline community.

Meet the 11 standout Koalas:

  • Ryan B will play volleyball at Elms College while pursuing a nursing degree. Her favorite sports memory at Ursuline? “Competing and winning on Senior Night.”
     
  • Abby D, heading to the United States Military Academy at West Point for lacrosse, chose West Point for its legacy of leadership and its strong alumni network.
     
  • Kelly G will run cross country and track at Manhattan University, her parents’ alma mater. She said, “Manhattan already feels like home,” and cherishes earning All-American with her relay team at Ursuline.
     
  • Emilia M will play softball at Bryant University, drawn to its welcoming environment. Her Urusline softball highlight: “Winning the Section 1 championship in 2023.”
     
  • Lily M, headed to Catholic University for track and cross-country, felt that the coaching staff at Catholic truly valued both her athletic and academic success. Favorite moment as a Koala: “Winning the county championship in sophomore year.”
     
  • Sophia N chose Sacred Heart University for its basketball program, impressed by its coaching staff. Her standout Koala experience: “The friendships and coaches who’ve supported me through everything.”
     
  • Ivana R committed to Syracuse University for its Division I track and field program, citing its strong track and field team, business program, and alumni network. Favorite Koala memory: “Becoming All-American national champs at the Nike competition.”
     
  • Zoe R will play lacrosse at the United States Naval Academy, drawn to its culture, camaraderie, and the honor of serving her country. Most memorable moment: “The Ursuline sister school LAX trips.”
     
  • Anja T chose Dickinson College for its swimming program, appreciating the academic rigor and the sense of community. As a Koala, she’ll never forget her experience at the Olympic training center.”
     
  • Jessica T, heading to Lafayette College for softball, loved their blend of academic and athletic excellence. Favorite Koala memory: “Winning All-American my freshman year.”
     
  • Campbell W will row at the University of Alabama, confident that the school will challenge her both on the water and in the classroom. Her fondest sports memories involve “The support from coaches and teammates throughout the years.”
     

 


As the ceremony drew to a close, Ryan offered final words of gratitude and encouragement to the esteemed group of Koalas:

“Thank you for adding your talent and character to the Ursuline School community. We are better off because of it.”

The event was a shining moment for the entire Ursuline School family, and a reminder that while these fine athletes will wear different team uniforms in the fall, they’ll continue to carry the heart and spirit of The Ursuline School wherever they go.
