Congratulations Class of 2024!

Congratulations Class of 2024!

The Ursuline School's 127th Commencement, held on May 30, 2024, celebrated the strength, wisdom, kindness, and courage of the Class of 2024, who began high school at the height of the pandemic. As Valedictorian Alexia Tzaneteas proclaimed, “Because of the inauspicious way our high school experience began, many people justifiably thought we were a lost cause, but I happen to disagree. We’ve learned both the things we wanted to hear and the things we needed to hear over these past four years. We've simultaneously had our hopes both crushed and restored, have had our questions both answered and returned to us with more layers of complication. Clearly, the pandemic did not hinder our education in the slightest, and if anything, what we all went through makes the achievements we're celebrating today even more grand.”

Salutatorian Ava Snyder encouraged her classmates with these words: “Wear your ring with pride. Stay in touch with your classmates, from your best friends to the people you only bonded with during the long, long wait in the lunch line. The connections built here extend far beyond these doors . . . Serviam, the spirit of service through faith, is a hallmark of Ursuline and forms the foundation of all the relationships we’ve built . . . It is a privilege to serve others, and I encourage you all to continue, not only because it is right, but because it is how we show what the Ursuline Sisterhood truly means to each of us . . . Take all that Ursuline has given you and run with it to courageously change what you can wherever the world calls you. Congratulations, Class of 2024. The world awaits our contributions, and I have no doubt that we will rise to the occasion!”

Dr. Melnyk noted that this class of only 127 seniors was accepted into 205 colleges and universities, collectively earning $21 million in college scholarships and awards.  She said, “Your dedication and perseverance have prepared you for what lies ahead. I believe in you and have no doubt that you will excel in reaching your potential.”
