From Ursuline to Hollywood: Alumna Santina Madden ’22 shines on “American Idol”

As Women’s History Month came to a close in March 2025, the school community was abuzz with excitement, celebrating a remarkable young talent who is making school history in real time. Santina Madden, a proud member of Ursuline’s Class of 2022, earned a Golden Ticket to Hollywood on “American Idol”—captivating viewers and judges alike with a stunning performance showcasing her voice and violin.

Santina wowed the judges with a breathtaking rendition of Lady Gaga’s “Always Remember Us This Way” from “A Star is Born.” Her heartfelt vocals and moving musicianship earned her enthusiastic praise and a coveted spot in the next round of the nationally televised competition.

At Ursuline, Santina was a standout in the Symphonic Orchestra and was frequently tapped for special performances, including the Graduation Liturgy and Italian History Month. Her dedication and talent were recognized at graduation when she received the Performing Arts Departmental Award, highlighting her excellence and impact in the arts.

Now pursuing a degree in Music Education at the University of Miami, Santina continues to follow her passion with the same heart and drive she showed during high school.

Santina’s journey is also a proud continuation of a family legacy at Ursuline. Her mother, Dina Cavallo Madden ’86, and sister, Elizabeth Madden ’20, are both proud Ursuline alumnae who share in the joy of seeing Santina carry on the tradition with such talent and grace.

Rooted in her community, Santina and her family are longtime members of Annunciation-Our Lady of Fatima Parish in Crestwood. She is also a proud alumna of Annunciation School, Class of 2018.

Santina’s journey from Ursuline’s stage to the bright lights of Hollywood is nothing short of inspiring. As she competes on “American Idol,” she carries the support and pride of the entire school community. Join us in cheering on Santina Madden as she continues her “American Idol” journey.
