NY Senator recognizes Ursuline's state champs

The week before Christmas is a busy time for most people, but when a high school cheerleading team wins the state championship title, even state senators take notice. For Shelley B. Mayer, the NYS Senator from the 37th district, current Chair of the Committee on Education, and former high school cheerleader, taking the opportunity to personally congratulate Ursuline's Cheer team and its coaches was time well spent.

Senator Mayer recognized our Fall 2023 NYSPHSAA State Champion Game Day cheerleaders during an afterschool visit on Tuesday, December 19. Family, friends, faculty, staff, teammates, and coaches gathered in the Auriana Theater to watch as Senator Mayer presented our dedicated athletes and their coaches with a proclamation in honor of their outstanding accomplishments.

The senator's remarks emphasized the value of developing leadership and team-building skills through athletics. "Know that you have the power to make change," she said. "Congratulations!"
