The Ursuline School’s 5th Annual Charity Cabaret on February 2 – 4, 2023, in the Auriana Theater was another successful production of rousing music, soulful ballads, humorous dialogue, and lovely dance. The Charity Cabaret is a student-run Broadway revue and this year it included numbers from Beetlejuice, Hamilton, Aladdin Junior, Dear Evan Hansen, Mean Girls, The Greatest Showman, Mamma Mia, Hercules and many other Broadway shows.
The show was skillfully produced by students Kristen DeFlorio '23 (Director), Madeleine Cockburn '25 (Vocal Director), Carly Tauber '25 (Staging Director), Annika Pitawala '25 (Costume Director), and Cameron Caie '25 (Staging Director). They selected songs with themes of love, adventure, encouragement, longing, and friendship. Katherine Mehler '23 (Stage Manager) and Julia Higgins '23 ran the sound and lighting booth to excellent effect.
The cast worked hard over two months to learn music, choreography, and staging for the show. Students from all grade levels participated in both the cast and crew. Our Seniors ended the show with Found /Tonight by Lin-Manuel Miranda, a song about community and being together.
The Charity Cabaret is a fundraiser supporting a non-profit of the students’ choice. We are pleased to report that we raised $1,771 for Sanctuary for Families, a non-profit organization that helps victims of domestic abuse and their children by providing childcare, legal assistance, therapy, economic empowerment, and many other services.
