Tahra Grant '04 breaks barriers in film industry

Tahra Grant '04, who has led corporate communications for the Motion Picture Group since 2016, was promoted in April 2024 to EVP and Chief Communications Officer for Sony Pictures Entertainment. She is the first African-American woman named Chief Communications Officer at a major Hollywood studio and the only Black woman holding that position.

With her strong communication and leadership skills, Tahra has "strengthened the narrative around the vitality, sustainability, and forward-looking strategies of the motion picture business," according to Tony Vinciquerra, Chairman and CEO of Sony Pictures Entertainment. Tahra succeeds while "navigating some of the most complicated industry events of our time, including the COVID pandemic and the historic double strikes last year."

Tahra joined Sony Pictures Entertainment in 2016 after working at the New York-based PR firm Rubenstein Communications. She led corporate communications for the Motion Picture Group for the last eight years. In her previous role, she streamlined corporate communications, drove crisis and issues management, advanced leadership strategies, and was responsible for all film announcements. Click HERE to read the story in The Hollywood Reporter.
