Art that tells a story

Three graduating Ursuline seniors, Nicole Comunello '26, Sienna Perez '26, and Brigitta Tedeschi '26, are exhibiting artwork in Relics: From Ancient to Modern, a juried exhibition at the Pelham Art Center.

Curated by the Pelham Art Center's Teen Artist Council, the exhibition runs from May 7–31, 2026, and explores the idea of relics through personal and historical perspectives. The collection features works inspired by subjects with historical or sentimental meaning to each artist and examines the memories, cultural influences, and defining experiences that continue to shape the present.

Working across a range of mediums, participating artists invite viewers to consider how history and lived experience influence identity, perspective, and creative expression.

Comunello's acrylic painting, "Game Over," draws on nostalgic imagery through a bold depiction of a classic Pac-Man arcade cabinet.

Perez's acrylic work, "Memory of Youth," captures a childhood moment through expressive color, perspective, and detail.

Tedeschi contributed two works to the exhibition. "Assignment Due Yesterday," a colored-pencil composition, reflects the familiar tools and pressures of student life, while "Fraying Perfection," an embroidery piece, explores themes of identity and imperfection through texture and image.

Perez and Tedeschi both serve on the Pelham Art Center's Teen Artist Council, a collaborative group of high school students who help develop the exhibition theme, organize the open call process, and curate the final show.

The exhibition's opening reception on May 9 brought together student artists, families, and members of the local arts community to celebrate the creativity and leadership of young artists from across the region.

The recognition reflects the continued strength of Ursuline's Visual Arts program and the opportunities for students to develop their creativity and artistic voice across a wide range of media.

Visual and Media Arts Chair Ms. Mary Quartaro '80 called the exhibition and the students' featured artwork "very impressive.” "I’m so proud to see their creativity recognized in this way," she said.
