Cheerleaders inducted into New Rochelle Sports Hall of Fame

Three cheers for the Ursuline School Cheerleaders who were inducted into the prestigious New Rochelle Sports Hall of Fame on October 23, 2024. Led by their talented coaches Karissa Minichino ‘08, John Braca, and Adriana Luongo ‘03, this dynamic squad was recognized for their incredible achievements during their undefeated 2023-24 season.

The 2023-24 Ursuline Varsity Game Day cheerleading team, widely known for their unwavering school spirit and dedication to the sport, received the Don Zaccagnino Memorial Award for outstanding athletic performance. Previous recognitions include commendations by State Senator Shelley Mayer and New Rochelle Mayor Yadira Ramos-Herbert, who dubbed May 14, 2024, as ‘Ursuline Cheerleading Day’ in the City of New Rochelle.

This exceptional team of Koalas has a history of success, which includes multiple state and regional championships, as well as a national title. Some notable team honors include a three-time Section One Champions and a five-time Universal Cheerleaders Association (UCA) Regional Championship.

It is the third Game Day UCA National Championship for The Ursuline School since 2020. Last fall, the Koalas came out on top in the first-ever Game Day New York State (NYSPHSAA) Championship, a title they plan to defend this November.

Their commitment to teamwork and sportsmanship has earned them a well-deserved spot in the Hall of Fame alongside other esteemed athletes, coaches, and sports figures in the community.

Join us in congratulating the Ursuline School Cheerleaders as they continue to inspire and uplift our school community both on and off the mat. Go Koalas!
