World Languages

Ursuline’s World Languages program immerses students in global cultures through modern languages and Latin. Lessons come alive with experiences such as operatic music, ethnic dance, and the arts—deepening understanding and appreciation of diverse traditions and perspectives.

Goal:

To enable students to communicate effectively and proficiently in their chosen language, inspire students to celebrate the richness of the diversity of our community and the wider world, and instill deep respect and understanding of the culture they have chosen to study.

Curriculum Overview:

The department strives to teach students the value of learning about other languages and cultures and prepare students to become productive and full-fledged members of the multicultural global community. All courses are aligned with the Standards for Foreign Language Learning in the 21st Century.

Details:

Many students study their chosen language beyond the required three years. Some students pursue courses in two languages. Our Global Education & Serviam Program enhances language study. In addition, students gain a deeper understanding of language and culture by participating in travel opportunities, service opportunities, and language immersion experiences.
