Global Scholars

Future global leaders find their voice

The Ursuline School, as part of the Ursuline Education Network (UEN), co-developed the Global Scholars Program with high school students who are passionate about global studies in mind. The independent study program allows students to delve into pressing international concerns and receive one-on-one faculty mentorship, combining academics, advocacy, and direct service.

This distinctive program highlights Ursuline's Core Values through rigorous academic study, advocacy, Serviam, and global citizenship. It inspires learning opportunities, course selections, and participation in activities and experiences with a global focus. Interested Ursuline students commit to a three-year journey focused on global issues and advocacy. Program requirements include a minimum of four core Global courses, at least one semester of the Global Concerns Seminar elective, and four years of a world language.

The program culminates in the spring of senior year when students present a scholarly Capstone Research Project on a global issue they feel passionate about. Upon completing all requirements, students earn the Global Scholar distinction on their high school transcripts.

This program has given my daughter the amazing opportunity to complete scholarly research while still in high school. She has formed a system of support and collaboration with the other Global Scholars that reaches far beyond Ursuline’s walls. She had the opportunity to explore a topic she is passionate about, which opened her eyes to inequality and issues present around the world while focusing on developing solutions."
