Maura Quinn ’81

Maura Quinn ’81

Retired US Navy pilot and federal prosecutor.

As a Navy helicopter pilot, Maura was one of only two women to deploy with a carrier battlegroup of 7,000 sailors. “I went from an all-girls high school to an almost all-men's college, the U.S. Naval Academy, where at the time there was a strong feeling that women did not have what it took to succeed. This was surprising to me because at Ursuline, I learned that I could succeed and so I did.” Maura shares that there is no greater honor than serving others. "Serviam for life - to my country as a Navy pilot, to my community as a federal prosecutor and counsel to the FBI and DEA, and to my family as a wife, mother, daughter, and sister." She encourages current students to listen and advises that listening first connects you to others and then helps you find solutions.
