Welcome New Families 2022

This web page is a central place for you, our newest families, to find information helpful as you begin your Ursuline experience in the next school year.

We also invite you to start checking the Parent Portal on our website. The Parent Portal is at the top of the homepage and at the top, right-hand corner of every web page. Just click on the word Parents. No password needed.

Emails
We send out information and news to our families on a regular basis. We also send special emails as the need arises.

During the school year we send by email each Friday the Koala Weekly Bulletin which notes upcoming dates, announcements, permission slips, and news from our parent organizations. You will be added to that distribution starting on September 2,  2022.

We also send periodic E-Newsletters with photos and reports on school events.  You were added to that distribution in March 2022.

Emails regarding school business will be sent as needed from one of the following email accounts: OfficeofThePresident, OfficeofThePrincipal, MainOffice, AcademicGuidance, PersonalDevelopment, Athletics, CampusMinistry or OfficeoftheRegistrar. These are all @ursulinenewrochelle.org. Please check your email settings to accept emails from these senders.

The Fathers' Club and Mothers' Auxiliary will send emails to members with respect to their major events.

Uniform Guidelines are displayed on the Parent Portal, on the blue tab at the top named Uniform Guidelines.  It includes photos of the various articles of clothing. 

If you would like to order uniform items, there are several ways to accomplish this.  Here is an order form (accessible here).  The suggested date for ordering uniforms in order to have them before the start of school is July 15.  The FlynnO'Hara website is HERE.

Our online bookstore re-opened in July for back-to-school shopping, providing Ursuline current and incoming families an opportunity to purchase items now.  The school bookstore sells items that meet our uniform guidelines such as approved blue/white Ursuline sweatshirts /fleeces and Ursuline t-shirts that are suitable for physical education class.  The bookstore also offers non-uniform spirit wear or gear such as pajama bottoms. These items will be available for pickup at Grade-level Orientations in September.   PLEASE DISREGARD THE PICK-UP TIME INCLUDED ON YOUR RECEIPT FOR THE PURCHASE! Please check back often as we will continue to get new inventory.

We note that essential uniform items such as the blue-and-white skirt and the required Ursuline navy sweater are still purchased from the uniform company FlynnO'Hara. 

LARCHMONT VAN SERVICE (Metro North New Haven line)

We offer van service for students who wish to ride Metro North’s New Haven Line from Manhattan, Bronx, Mt. Vernon, Mamaroneck, Larchmont, Harrison, Rye, Port Chester and Connecticut with a pick up/drop off location at the Larchmont station.

Morning pickup at Larchmont Station: Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday 7:30 a.m.
Wednesday 7:30 a.m. and 8:30 a.m.
Afternoon return to Larchmont Station: Monday through Friday 3:05 p.m. and 5:20 p.m

The form for 2022-23 may be downloaded HERE. 

The form and payment were due by April 29, 2022 however, there may be a few spots open.

CRESTWOOD VAN SERVICE (Metro North Harlem Line)

This van service is for students who ride Metro North’s Harlem Line from Manhattan, Bronx, White Plains and points north.

Morning pickup at Crestwood Station: Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday 7 a.m., 7:20 a.m. and 7:40 a.m.
Wednesday 7:40 a.m., 8:20 a.m., 8:40 a.m. and 9:00 a.m.
Afternoon return to Crestwood Station: Monday through Friday 3:05 p.m. and 5:00 p.m.

BRING YOUR OWN DEVICE

The minimum requirements for your laptop or tablet are specified in this flyer HERE.  Software installation times are also listed in the flyer and below.

The Ursuline School software installations - the following programs will be provided: 

● Microsoft Office 365 for Microsoft Windows machines

● Microsoft Office 365 For Mac Computers

● Symantec Enterprise edition antivirus software

● Canon Print Software

● Chrome Browser and Adobe Reader

Software Installation:

Laptops may be dropped off from June 27 through August 11, Monday - Thursday, between the hours  9 a.m. - 2 p.m.  (Office closed July 4).

After August 11, you must email Mr. Ruiz  or Mr. Rodriguez  to set up an appointment for software installation.

Calculators:  All high school students are required to purchase a TI-Nspire CXII Calculator. This will be for use in both math and science courses and is acceptable on all standardized tests

The Ursuline School is a member of the NY State Public High School Athletic Association (NYSPHSAA) and Section I Athletics, Conference II. Our 6th grade teams participate in the CYO League. We offer 27 teams in 13 sports.

Fall Sports Season ’22:  High school tryouts to start August 22, 2022.  Please see details on the 2022-23 Tryouts web page HERE and, if interested in the Fall 2022 season, make sure to register HERE by August 1st.

Winter Sports Season ’22: High school tryouts to start November 14, 2022.

Spring Sports Season ’23: High school tryouts to start March 13, 2023.

Those 7th and 8th graders who would like to try out for a JV or Varsity sport, please review carefully the Athletic Placement Process web page.

Each year in September, we begin with an off-site orientation day for the entire 9th grade. 

This provides an opportunity for both new and returning students to bond and get to know one another off-campus through fun and challenging activities. The day is led by the skilled staff at Camp Mariah in Fishkill, NY with assistance from our Peer Leaders, who will continue working with the 9th graders throughout the school year. 

The off-site orientation will take place on Wednesday, September 7, 2022, and students must be at Ursuline by 7:30 am. Please note this is a mandatory trip and is considered as important as the first day of classes.

We will be monitoring health information and recommendations related to COVID-19, but anticipate proceeding with this Ursuline tradition. Should there be any changes, you will be notified directly.

CALENDARS & BIRTHDAY GREETINGS. The printed school calendar is distributed to all students in the Fall. There is an option to add a short birthday greeting on a student's birthday.  If you wish to purchase a birthday commemoration for your daughter(s) to be included in the 2022-23 printed school calendar, please complete the form HERE.  Deadline is June 30.

The Middle School Supply List as of June 1, 2022 may be downloaded HERE. Additional supplies may be added closer to the start of the school year. We note that all Middle School students are required to have headphones or earbuds.

Parent PlusPortals is a web-based software that allows parents or guardians online access to their student's class schedule, the Student/Parent Handbook and other information.  There is also a parent directory.  It is password protected. 

After all new scheduling information is added, parents of new students will receive access and password, in August 2022.
