High School Tryouts for the Winter Season - UPDATE

On November 17 and then on November 20, the New York State Public High School Athletic Association (NYSPHSAA) announced new information for winter sports.

Indoor track is permitted to begin January 4, 2021. High risk sports - basketball and competitive cheer - have been postponed until further authorization.

Indoor track will hold remote practices starting January 4th and will begin on-campus practices after school on January 11th.

The safety of our school and athletics programs is forefront in our minds. Any student-athlete who wants to participate in the “indoor” track season on campus starting January 11 must have a negative COVID test before coming on campus. This includes those who may be learning Fully Remote this quarter.

Therefore, students who are on-campus AND those who are Fully Remote Learners are required to present a negative COVID-19 test dated January 4 or later before being allowed to compete on campus in their sport. This test must be a PCR test as rapid test results are no longer accepted.   Remote Learners who have not been tested by January 11 may work out from home on Strava until they are able to produce a negative COVID test. Please contact Coach Mitchell and assistant coaches if this applies.

Please stay tuned for possible Modified winter sports clinics after January 19.  Please click here for the NYSPHSAA statement.

Schedules of practices and games, organized by sport, will be posted at Teams & Schedules.

There may be new guidance from NYSPHSAA so we suggest that you keep checking this web page for updates.

Health form is MANDATORY. It must be an up-to-date health form, meaning that it was filled out by the doctor within the past 12 months.

Beginning January 31, 2021, physical examinations for school are to be documented on the NYS Required Health Examination Form (attached).

Please watch & hear the presentation below on updated COVID protocols.

The presentation includes a description of policies for the Fall 2020 Athletics Season. We expect there will be similar but not identical policies for the rescheduled Winter 2020 Athletics Season.
