The Ursuline School is a member of the NY State Public High School Athletic Association (NYSPHSAA) and Section I Athletics, Conference I. We offer 31 teams in 14 sports.

The Ursuline School is very proud of the fine tradition of excellence in its athletic program. We encourage our student athletes to strive for success both in the classroom and in their team effort. Ursuline has been awarded the School of Distinction Award 14 times and nearly all varsity athletes achieve the scholar athlete recognition from Section One.

  • Varsity teams - competitive by definition and design, requiring a firm time commitment by both coaches and team members. All selected players are expected and required to be in attendance at all practices and games
  • Junior Varsity programs - more developmental and will prepare the team members for potential future participation on the varsity level; will often have larger rosters.
  • Middle school modified programs-  defined by the state to be both instructional and inclusive; this is accomplished by altering game rules to allow greater participation.
  • 6th grade programs - inclusive; cuts are not generally made unless unusually high numbers make a roster unmanageable.

Those 7th and 8th graders who have competed at the high school level at their previous school before coming to Ursuline will be subject to the transfer rule as set forth by the New York State Public High School Athletics Association (NYSPHSAA). Paraphrased, the transfer rule states that any student in grades 7-12 who transfers without a corresponding change in residence to the City of New Rochelle shall not be eligible to participate in her sport at Ursuline's high school level for a period of 1 (one) year if she participated in that sport at the high school level at her previous school. Students would be automatically eligible for participation in a sport not previously played in season at the high school level.
