Fall 2020 Athletics Tryouts

All athletes are reminded that they must have a current physical on file with the school nurse. Please click here to access the required NYS health exam form.

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic and the impact that it is having on our health care providers, The Department has released a memo to provide direction to  schools when students are delayed in obtaining required health exams, along with information on the required health exam form.

• Continue to accept any physical examination form conducted on or before January 30, 2021 and allow parents/guardians additional time to provide the completed exam form to the school;
• Student athletes can participate in the fall 2020 sports season without a current health exam if they have a physical form from the 2019-2020 school year; and
• For the past two school years, the Department has encouraged schools to accept a health exam form regardless of the form it was completed on.  Beginning January 31, 2021- physical examinations for school are to be documented on the NYS Required Health Examination Form (attached).

Updated Student Athlete Handbook Forms will be available upon completion.

Please remember the key points:

• No Ursuline bus transportation
• Carpool encouraged
• Label and bring your own water bottle
• Mask required
• Screening and Sanitizing will be conducted
• 6 feet apart
• 2 spectators per athlete
• Final roster posted to MOODLE
• SportsYou app required.

Cross country, field hockey, soccer, and girl’s tennis will begin Fall team tryouts on Tuesday, September 29.

It is required that athletes attend ALL days of tryouts and ALL subsequent practices to be considered for a team, no exceptions. High school team practices start immediately after teams are selected, and respective practice times will be posted on the individual team pages on our website under “Teams & Schedules.”

During the course of tryouts, Varsity teams will be selected first. Once the Varsity team is announced, players who did not make the Varsity cut will return to continue to tryout for the Junior Varsity team (unless they are in their senior year). If there are high numbers for the tryouts, Junior Varsity cuts will be made as well. ALL selected players are expected to be in attendance at ALL tryouts, practices and games.

7th and 8th graders who would like to try out for a JV or Varsity sport must have completed required state fitness testing. Fitness testing was held on August 10th and August 17th.
