Welcome New Families

We are so glad you are joining The Ursuline School community!

This web page is a resource dedicated to you. Summer reading lists and Technology requirements have been posted.

Over the course of the next few weeks and months, we will post more information here, relating to fall orientation. Please check back often.

Weekly Schedule

Here is an overview of The Ursuline School weekly schedule. Each class meets for 50 minutes on Monday, Tuesday, and Friday and meets for 90 minutes on either Wednesday or Thursday. A major benefit of the schedule is the longer block of time on Wednesdays and Thursdays for students to delve deeply into subjects. This allows for project-based instruction, and a variety of learning experiences that correspond to the various ways that students learn.

The school day begins at 8 a.m. and ends at 3 p.m. except that on Wednesday classes start at 9:30 a.m. Students are welcome to arrive at the regular time on Wednesday and there is supervision in the building.

The skills that are vital in the world today are the ability to think critically, to solve problems, and to collaborate with others, and this schedule enhances each of these skills for all Ursuline students.

Courses and Course Lists

All 6th graders take one semester of Greek and one semester of Spanish.  All 7th graders take one semester of Latin and one semester of Italian.  This exposure to four languages will then help 8th graders choose either Spanish 1, Italian 1, or Latin 1.

6th, 7th and 8th graders have a "wheel" of electives that they rotate through each quarter. The electives are art, music, technology, and Personal Development.

9th grade electives are music, art, and technology. Students choose either a full year of one of these electives or a  semester each of two out of three of these electives.

Each student will be emailed a list of her courses and placements in early June. (The schedule of course times is distributed later.)

This webpage is a central place for you, our newest families, to find information helpful as you begin your Ursuline experience in this next school year.

We also invite you to start checking the Parent Portal on our website. The Parent Portal is at the top of the homepage and at the top, right-hand corner of every web page. Just click on the word Parents. No password needed.

We send out information and news to our families on a regular basis.
