Distance Learning and Building up Community
Distance learning has all kinds of challenges:
absence of friends and the school community,
distractions in a home environment, and
anxiety about the current health situation.
Campus Ministry, Personal Counseling, Personal Development, and College & Academic Guidance are all focused on offering support and affirming connections. They are led by our school Administration who are in frequent contact with all members of the school community.
We have discovered that starting the day with our Daily Prayer restores a sense of community and familiarity. Rather than hear the Daily Prayer over the P.A. system, students and teachers are creating short videos of daily prayers that are then shared. We are also posting the Daily Prayer on our school homepage.
Outreach to Parents and Students.
President Eileen Davidson has held Zoom calls with parents of all students. She has been joined by Principal Rosemary Beirne and Assistant Principals Denise Moore and Liz Lynch.
The Class of 2020 joined the administration and Senior teachers for an online Class Meeting on April 4th. They enjoyed catching up and sharing thoughts about their unusual Senior year.
With a Grateful Heart.
Mrs. Davidson and Mrs. Beirne took a few moments to thank those whose job it is to protect and care for us, especially our alumnae and Ursuline parents who are putting their health at risk to protect others. They filmed a short message to our health care providers, first responders, doctors, nurses, medical and lab technicians, pharmacists and all those whose jobs it is to ensure our safety.
Ursuline College Connections.
Many colleges are not able to offer on-campus visit programs, so we are organizing a way current Ursuline seniors and juniors can connect with our alumnae in college.
