Our formal strategic planning process began in 2012 and culminated in the articulation of the Vision Statement and the Strategic Plan 2014-2018 described in the Overview.
Between 2014 and 2018, we addressed a number of the high priority items. We also earned NYSAIS accreditation in January 2017 which added further analysis of our strategic initiatives.
In 2019, we undertook an evaluation of the next key areas of focus in the Strategic Plan. We are committed to continually meeting the challenges of providing our students with the 21st century education they need.
BACKGROUND of the STRATEGIC PLANNING PROCESS: One of the most critical aspects of the strategic planning process was to hear from our constituent groups. President Eileen Davidson launched her Discovery & Listening Tour in June 2012. She heard from alumnae ranging from the classes of 1955 to 2009, as well as present parents and students. Each of these encounters provided valuable feedback as to what traditions must be preserved and what innovations need to be embraced.
Our strategic planning process also included collecting electronic survey responses. We completed surveys from middle and high school students, parents, faculty, alumnae, and our board.
We formed a Steering Committee and subcommittees: Mission & Philosophy, Curriculum & Student Life, Facilities & Technology, and Advancement, Finance & Marketing. Each of these groups included parents, faculty and alumnae. These subcommittees met over the summer of 2013 to work on draft elements of the plan. The faculty also devoted a day in November 2013 to strategic planning in their specific departments. In March 2014, we formally published the Strategic Plan. The result was a dynamic instrument that has been guiding the school’s growth based on increasingly data-driven decisions.
Between 2014 and 2018, teams of faculty and staff worked on the highest priority items which were regularly reported to the Board of Trustees by the Strategic Plan Co-Leaders. We now are assessing new areas of focus in the Strategic Plan.
