Performing Arts

Music is required for all students in the Middle School.

6th grade students may choose a String, Woodwind, or Brass instrument, or opt for Music Class. 7th and 8th graders are encouraged to continue the instrumental curriculum from the prior year, or the 8th grade may opt into Music Class.

Freshmen may either continue with their instrument, or take the Introduction to the Performing Arts class.

Incoming students who have experience may opt to take an instrumental class.

Performances

The Winter and Spring Concerts are presented each year, and there are many other performing opportunities throughout the year. Several groups perform recitals, competitions, perform at events at school, and do community outreach. All are encouraged to participate in the NYSSMA festival (New York State School Music Association). All choirs participate in the NYSSMA Majors festival in the Spring.
