The first service opportunity of the new school year was a fun and creative way to share the spirit of Serviam within our local community.
Fourteen Ursuline students - including five new ninth graders - participated in a service project on Saturday, September 7, 2019 at the Hugh A. Doyle Senior Center New Rochelle Office for the Aging in New Rochelle. The students painted colorful signs to help raise awareness of the city's nonprofits. The signs will be used in the City of New Rochelle's Thanksgiving Parade on Saturday, November 23 to inspire people to share their time and talents with these very worthy organizations.
This project was part of Volunteer NY! 9/11 Serve + Remember Program, an annual community-wide day of service dedicated to honoring the memory of those who died on September 11, 2001. Ursuline's participation was coordinated by Social Action Club co-presidents Antoinette Frascone '20 and Ally Sheridan '20, with faculty moderator Ms. Patrice McDermott '84. They were asked to consider projects that had the most urgent need for volunteers and that would benefit from Ursuline participation.
