Headbands for Medical Workers, by Alexandra Ferguson '99
Alexandra Ferguson's pillow company made a hard pivot toward making special buttoned headbands for medical workers to protect their ears from wearing (sometimes multiple) masks all day. She already has donated 321 headbands to rave reviews and has requests for over a thousand headbands from hospitals across the tri-state area. Alexandra is now partnering with button manufacturers and overseas factories to secure large donations of buttons. She hopes to grow the project to support medical workers not only in the tri-state but nationwide as the virus keeps spreading.
The initial project was conceived and prototyped with the Sans sisters, Jackie ’01, Katey ’99 and Lizzy ’10. Classmates in the medical field have been among the first to request these headbands. Donya Carter ’99, Lauren Paladino ’01, two of Jen Giammanco’s cousins (’99), Renee Baranin ’97 and Alyssa Casale ’99.
Alexandra launched a GoFundMe to raise money for out of pocket costs. If you'd like to contribute, here is the link: https://www.gofundme.
Fundraiser for daughter of Michele Molea '90
Nola Browne, the youngest daughter of Michele Molea and Ted Marotta, was diagnosed with Epitheliod Sarcoma, which is a rare soft tissue cancer, even more rare in children. Leila Huff Ludy '90 alerted us to this fundraiser for the family's medical expenses.
