Thanks to the generosity of our benefactors, Ursuline is able to offer a select number of privately-funded scholarships each year to our rising and incoming ninth grade students. Recipients of these scholarships are selected by the Scholarship Committee.
Students in the Class of 2023 may apply for consideration for the following scholarships:

In addition to the scholarships listed below, there are other privately-funded scholarships for which applicants may qualify. Questions within the application may be used to help evaluate eligibility for scholarships with specific qualifying requirements.
Emily Clemente Memorial Scholarship
The Emily Clemente Memorial Scholarship was established in 1989 by Ann & Constantine Clemente in memory of their daughter Emily, an outstanding student and leader at Ursuline. Emily was a smart and energetic young woman who embraced all that Ursuline had to offer. She was known for her generosity, kindness and compassion - and for her desire to change the world.
The prestigious Emily Clemente Memorial Scholarship is awarded each year based on academic potential, evident concern for others and demonstrated need. It is the only four-year, full-tuition scholarship offered at The Ursuline School.
Scholarship amount: Full tuition
Criteria: Strong academic record, involved in service and leadership activities, financial need (as determined by School & Student Services https://www.sssbynais.com/parents)
Gabelli Foundation Scholarship
Established in 2005 by the Gabelli Foundation, this half-tuition, four-year scholarship is awarded each year to an academically-talented incoming or rising ninth grader of Italian descent whose grades and TACHS/ISEE scores are in the top 10th percentile.
Scholarship amount: Half tuition
Criteria: Strong academic record and Italian heritage. Financial need as determined by School & Student Services is considered but not required (https://www.sssbynais.com/parents)
Sr. Jean Baptiste Nicholson, OSU Memorial Scholarship
Sr. Jean Baptiste Nicholson, known to all as Sr. JB, led The Ursuline School for over 35 years, first as Principal and then as the first President. She was a woman of great vision and compassion, wisdom and strength, who loved The Ursuline School. This scholarship was established in her honor in 2010 and continues in her memory.
Scholarship amount: Partial tuition, amount varies
Criteria: Involved in service and leadership activities, financial need is a consideration (as determined by School & Student Services https://www.sssbynais.com/parents)
TR Scholarship in honor of Sr. Regina Kehoe, OSU
The TR Scholarship was launched in 2014 by the Class of 1964 during their 50th Reunion year in celebration of their beloved principal, Mother Thomas Regina or "TR" as she was affectionately known at the time. Alumnae from other years, in particular the Class of 1968, the TUS Mothers' Auxiliary, and Sr. Regina's family and friends are also generous supporters. This partial scholarship is awarded once every four years to an incoming ninth grade student who is hard-working and has a strong desire to attend Ursuline.
Scholarship amount: $4,000 per year

Peter & Carmela Agliardo Memorial Scholarship
This scholarship was established in 2018 by Terri Agliardo, longtime member of the Ursuline faculty and Chair of the Religious Studies Department, and her brother Louis in loving memory of their parents. Peter and Carmela encouraged their children to pursue their educational interests as far as they wished to go, and demonstrated in their own lives the importance of always helping others.
Scholarship amount: $1,500 per year
Criteria: Strong academic record, involved in service activities in school, community or parish, Roman Catholic, live in Bronx, financial need (as determined by School & Student Services https://www.sssbynais.com/parents)
Alexandria Brown '20 Scholarship
Ursuline parents Donna and Richard Brown endowed this scholarship in 2018 in honor of their daughter Alexandria '20. Their strong support for the mission of The Ursuline School and personal commitment to fostering a welcoming and inclusive school community inspired the creation of this scholarship. This new opportunity will help make an Ursuline education more accessible for a student of color who will thrive here, just as Alex continues to do. During the inaugural school year for the scholarship, Alex will be a senior and will present the scholarship to the first recipient.
Scholarship amount: $2,000 per year
Criteria: African-American or Latina student, demonstrated desire to attend Ursuline, financial need (as determined by School & Student Services https://www.sssbynais.com/parents)
Santangelo Family Scholarship
This scholarship was established in 2014 by Betty Jane Santangelo '67 to honor the women in the Santangelo family who have enjoyed a long-standing relationship with the Ursulines and The Ursuline School. Over several decades, mothers, daughters, sisters, cousins and aunts have been educated in the Ursuline tradition and continue to be strong supporters.
Scholarship amount: $2,500 per year
Criteria: Entering Ursuline in 9th grade, exceptional academic record, Italian heritage
