At Ursuline, we encourage the spiritual nourishment of all our students. In addition to school-wide liturgies and retreats led by Peer Ministers, did you know that each week our Campus Minister, Sr. Pat Schifini, leads prayer services and meditations in our Chapel that are available to all students and faculty/staff?
This year, our Peer Ministers initiated a new program. They began a monthly event on a Wednesday morning before classes start called PM in the AM. These are opportunities for students to share some Fun, Faith, Snacks, and Service with each other. The goal of PM in the AM is to foster a greater sense of Serviam and faith within our school community plus offer more face time between the Peer Ministers and the student body. In April, the Peer Ministers led a spiritual Easter egg hunt on the JB Commons.
On May 3, 2019 we took our 6th graders to the Passionist Monastery in Jamaica, Queens for the taping of the Sunday Mass. They were invited to be the congregation for this valuable ministry. The Passionists of the St. Paul of the Cross Province began their television ministry in New York in December, 1970. Today, hundreds of thousands of the home bound now join in the celebration of the Sunday Mass. Different schools volunteer to be the congregation. Our 6th graders were happy to be able to help others by being in the congregation on this day. The students also appreciated the chance to get a behind-the-scenes look at what goes into producing a television Mass. It was an educational and a spiritually uplifting experience. These Masses will be televised on September 1 and September 8.
Sr. Pat also maintains a spiritual blog named Our Faith Journey. We invite you to read the blog Here.
