As the longest-operating Driver's Education Program in the State of New York, for over 55 years, we have proudly served the community, Westchester County, and beyond. Giving countless students the tools, education, experience, and confidence to be safe and responsible drivers.
Eligibility:
- Open to ALL high school students (who attend school within or outside of Westchester County) who are residents of NY state.
- Students must be at least 16 years old at the start of the program.
Overview:
-
The program is offered three times during the year.
-
Sessions during the school year (Fall and Spring) consist of two in-person, weekly classes: an educational Lecture Class and an In-Car Driving Class.
-
The condensed Summer session consists of multiple lectures and multiple In-Car Driving Classes every week.
- Both components work together to form comprehensive learning that can be applied in real-world scenarios.
- Taught by experienced state-certified instructors.
- We utilize a fleet of new and late-model Nissan SUVs. Fully optioned with all features (including safety options). Vehicles also have an instructor brake installed along with multiple exterior and in-cabin cameras.
- To accommodate students' schedules, we have multiple instructors, options, and flexibilities.
- Enrolling is quick and easy. Call for details at any time: 201-962-7187.
Program Details:
The NYS Dept. of Motor Vehicles recently updated its licensing procedures. This may be especially confusing for parents who have had children complete this program previously. Full details will be provided throughout the course. As a resource, we can be contacted at any time during or after the program has ended with questions to assist with any issues that arise.
Students who complete the course will receive the following:
1) the ability to sign up for their Road Test,
2) the privilege of receiving their Full Unrestricted Driver's License one year earlier than normal at the age of 17 (previously referred to as the MV285 Course Completion Certificate), and
3) an insurance letter providing a potential auto insurance rate reduction or discount (contact your insurance company for details).
A "5-Hour" Pre-Licensing Course Completion Certificate (MV-278) is also INCLUDED in this program. This certificate can be provided during the course and will allow eligible students to sign up for their Road Test.
Important Resources:
Click the links below for complete details.
- Preventing Distracted Driving
A parent guide focusing on Distracted Driving.
- NYS Driver's Manual and Practice Tests
To help prepare students to take their Learner's Permit test.
- Certification of Supervised Driving
Before a student can take the road test, they must have completed 50 hours of driving practice. This is a NYS DMV requirement, not a requirement of this program. The required certification form (MV262) can be found here and must be submitted to a road test examiner.
