For over 50 years, the Driver’s Education Program at The Ursuline School has proudly served the community, giving countless students the tools, education, experience, and confidence to be safe and responsible drivers.
Eligibility:
-
Open to ALL high school students who are residents of NY state.
-
Students must be at least 16 years old with a Learner Permit.
Overview:
-
The program is offered in the Fall, Spring, and Summer.
-
Sessions during the school year (Fall and Spring) consist of two in-person, weekly classes: an educational lecture class and an in-car driving class.
-
The condensed Summer session consists of multiple classes every week, covering both the educational lecture class and in-car driving class.
-
Both components work together to form comprehensive learning that can be applied in real-world scenarios.
-
Taught by experienced state-certified instructors.
Program Details:
Students who complete the course will receive a Certificate of Completion (MV-285) and an Insurance Letter, which allows:
1) a NYS Learner Permit holder the ability to schedule a road test to receive a Junior License (if under the age of 17),
2) a 17-year-old the ability to receive a Senior License, and
3) a potential auto insurance discount/rate reduction (contact your insurance company for details).
A "5-Hour" Pre-Licensing Course Completion Certificate (MV-278) is also INCLUDED in this program. Either the MV-278 or the MV-285 Certificate can be used to sign up for the NYS Road Test.
