We congratulate Sonia Citron ‘21 who was named to the prestigious 2021 McDonald’s All American Game team on February 23, 2021.
The 24 high school seniors selected from across the United States “have been named the best of the best in high school hoops, cementing their legacy among basketball greats,” stated the McDonald’s All American Games Selection Committee.
Sonia is only the second McDonald's All-American in Ursuline history, joining former Koala Cori Chambers ’03. Sonia is also one of only three female players from Westchester County to ever be named to the McDonald’s team. She will attend Notre Dame next fall where she will play basketball.
In 2019, Sonia helped lead USA Basketball to a gold medal at the U16 FIBA Americas Championship and was named to the All-Tournament team. In 2020, she helped lead Ursuline to a 24-0 Section 1 Basketball championship in the COVID shortened season and was named NY State Gatorade Girls Player of the Year.
And on the afternoon of February 24, 2021, Sonia became the first player in Ursuline history to score 2,000 points as she helped lead her team to a victory over White Plains and keep the Koalas undefeated. The Journal News reported on the game HERE.
