As we celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month, we are taking time to provide culturally rich experiences for our students.
On September 22, 2021, Ursuline middle school students were treated to an interactive lecture-demonstration exploring the art of flamenco. Students learned that flamenco is much more than dance; it is a multicultural living art form that features song and guitar.
The four performers from Flamenco Vivo Carlata Santana taught us clapping rhythms and stomps, stylized hand gestures and song lyrics. They also shared the history of flamenco, from its origins in Andalucia to its current global appeal.
